Acute Inpatient Patient Care Technician - PCT

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Fresenius Medical Care support and collaborate with RNs to provide dialysis treatment to several patients at a time while maintaining the functionality of the clinic. This involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening the clinic at 4am for first shift. PCTs have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion needed to develop deep relationships with patients and improve their quality of life.

Responsibilities

Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in accordance with FMCNA policies, procedures, and training; Provide patient care under direct supervision of Hemodialysis Registered Nurse; Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN; Promote and assist in maintenance of a safe and clean working environment; Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies; Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight; Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration goal, treatment time, Sodium modeling, and UF modeling; Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled; Collect, label specimens and ensure timely delivery to laboratory; Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed; Obtain hemostasis and apply appropriate dressings; Comply with Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures

Requirements

High School Diploma or its equivalent; Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline; Effective communication skills – both verbal and written; Employees are required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; Frequent prolonged periods of standing; ability to bend over; ability to assist in moving machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs; ability to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs up as high as 5 feet

Nice to have
