Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse - RN - Dialysis

Inpatient RNs at Fresenius Medical Care perform dialysis treatments on an acute patient population in a hospital setting, including ICU, ER, Rehab, and Med/Surg units. Inpatient nurses are specifically accountable for administering and assessing each patient's treatment plan. This is a Float Position covering Portsmouth Regional, Dartmouth, Biddeford, Manchester, Greater Boston and North Shore area. The professional registered nurse Inpatient RN CAP 2 is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-during-post treatment and document in the patient medical record; Assess, collaborate and document patient/family learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education; Recognize aspects and implications of patient status that vary from normal and report to appropriate health team members; Direct and provide safe effective patient care for assigned patients as prescribed for all modality specific treatment procedures; Assess daily assigned patient care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff; Initiate and coordinate communication with FKC and Non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel; Perform implementation, administration, monitoring, and documentation of patient's response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions; Administer medications as prescribed and document medical justification and effectiveness; Initiate and assist with emergency response measures; Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor and role model for new and incumbent employees; May be asked to provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital/facility staff; May be assigned to assist in an Outpatient facility on an as needed basis; May serve as a Preceptor to new employees; Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance

Requirements

Current appropriate state licensure; Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification; Must meet practice requirements in all states employed; Entry level for RNs with minimum 2 years or more of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last 2 years as a RN; Six months to one year of dialysis experience or some form of critical care nursing experience; Must be capable of educating patients and providing exceptional customer service to partners; Required to take the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; Required to complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
