Assistant Store Manager

Responsible for managing staff and operations of various store departments to ensure quality of product, food and physical safety, and inventory stock levels. Oversees execution of merchandising plans, ensures adherence to Company standards and procedures, manages achievement of store sales and profits using acceptable business practices, and promotes customer service.

Responsibilities

Manage staff and operations of various store departments to ensure quality of product, food and physical safety, and inventory stock levels; Interview, hire, train, develop, appraise, reward, and discipline partners; schedule staff and resolve problems; Ensure effective training of partners within supervised departments; Review historical data to predict sales from ads and promotions; Manage inventory using item management processes; Review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data and report issues to upper management; Maintain and improve sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, and work standards; Open/close the store frequently and ensure it is presentable, adequately staffed, and secure; Oversee asset protection, including alarm system management, key control, and merchandise protection; Lead core safety processes, including self-inspections, safety team meetings, and incident reporting; Enforce quality control and food safety standards and ensure dated products are rotated; Conduct store inspections and ensure compliance with Company standards; Oversee pricing, direct store delivery (DSD) duties, backroom organization, and backdoor security; Review planograms and execute merchandising plans to increase sales; Develop initiatives for loss prevention and shrink reduction; Plan short-term strategic objectives and manage operating expenses to maximize sales, gross margin, and net profit; Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment; Display exemplary customer service and act as a role model for partners; Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and paperwork

Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age; Associates Degree in related field and two or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education; Advanced knowledge of retail grocery store operations; Intermediate knowledge of state laws regarding sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable; Intermediate knowledge of anti-money laundering and government regulations relating to monetary transactions; Intermediate knowledge of cash register; Basic mathematical skills; Ability to lead and motivate others; Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form; Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time; Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence; Must be detail oriented; Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; Ability to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions; Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack; Must obtain HIPAA certification through Company LEARN/LMS program within 2 weeks of starting; Must obtain Tobacco/Alcohol certification (TABC/LACT/AATC/ABLE) where applicable within 2 weeks of starting; Must obtain Manager Food Safety certification within 2 weeks of starting; Must obtain Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification within 2 weeks of starting; Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business; Frequently required to lift objects up to 40 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs; Attendance at work is required
