Associate General Counsel - Product/Commercial

Mapbox is the leading real-time location platform for a new generation of location-aware businesses. We’re looking for a lawyer with 7+ years of practicing attorney experience to join our small and collaborative legal team. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will come up with practical and creative solutions to get complex deals done and advance our business.

Responsibilities

Join a small and collaborative legal team; Handle complex data in-licenses, customer sales and automotive OEM deals; Work with product and engineering colleagues on commercial deals; Provide product-counseling; Come up with practical and creative solutions to get complex deals done; Draft and communicate agreements based on customers' use case and technical implementations; Own deals by developing the ability to mitigate and accept risk; Improve operational processes and update forms to scale the legal organization; Participate in efforts to scale the department and improve services; Collaborate, teach/learn from each other, and take feedback; Dive into a variety of legal issues

Requirements

7+ years of practicing attorney experience, with 2+ years at a top-tier law firm in any area and 5+ years in-house at a technology company in sales-side commercial transactions (not procurement or privacy/regulatory compliance); At least one of: computer engineering, computer science or other similar technical degree; or 2-4 years experience in software patent litigation or patent prosecution at a top-tier firm; or extensive experience working with APIs and SDKs; Experience working on complex sales deals; Excellent communication skills (clear and concise writing and verbal communications); Practical and customer-centric orientation and negotiation style; Sense of humor; JD degree from top-tier law school and active membership in at least one US state bar; If resume does not clearly demonstrate first two points, include a cover note explaining interest and fit
