Associate, Transaction Support Group

The Legal Transactions team at General Atlantic plays an essential role in the coordination, execution, implementation and management of transactions throughout the life of a fund. This function sits both in the Energy and Infrastructure asset class and the wider team. The objective of this role is to introduce efficiency to the entire investment process by supporting deal teams in navigating legal, compliance, tax and regulatory requirements during the origination, execution, investment management and exit stages. This position is a key enabler and main point of contact between deal teams and other functional teams across the General Atlantic platforms, as well as external advisors where applicable.

Responsibilities

Deal management function involving instructing legal advisors, assisting on internal approval processes, ensuring the set-up of investment vehicles (SPVs), flow of funds procedures, execution of documents and director briefings; Management of legal processes including non-disclosure agreements, term sheets, engagement agreements, briefing of external counsel and regular interaction with the General Atlantic Legal team and preferred legal advisors; Relationship building and maintenance with internal and external stakeholders; Assisting in the coordination of compliance-related matters such as customer due diligence and other regulatory requirements; Working closely with the SPV Governance team and service providers managing SPVs in various jurisdictions including Mauritius, Luxembourg and Singapore; Immersing in the asset class, deal teams and the intricacies of each transaction; Presenting on the status of transactions at quarterly management meetings of the Energy and Infrastructure teams

Requirements

A tertiary qualification which includes functioning legal knowledge and experience; Legal work experience either as part of an in house legal team or group company secretary office in a medium to large enterprise (preferred); Keen and quick learner with strong attention to detail; Track record in collaboration with external service providers and internal business units such as finance and compliance; Passion to learn and develop a career through collaboration and pushing boundaries in personal development; Independent self-starter who naturally takes initiative, can see the big picture while still maintaining focus on priorities and details; Strong written and spoken English; Excellent communication, interpersonal, coordination and time management skills; Ability to manage granular-level tasks and coordinate activities, diaries and manage stakeholders; Highly analytical coupled with strong intuition; able to think and react quickly; Strong project management skills, including prioritization and strong judgement; Ability to work well under pressure without compromising quality; Ability to work independently and proactively in a high performing global organization; Highly collaborative and capable of working effectively cross functionally; Demonstrated maturity and professional presence; comfortable interacting with senior executives; Highly motivated, inquisitive, and positive can-do attitude
