Biological Technologist

Responsibilities

Set up and conduct biological, microbiological, and biochemical laboratory tests and analyses to support research and quality control activities; Apply laboratory techniques including but not limited to microscopy, histochemistry, chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectroscopy; Perform standardized laboratory procedures related to antibody production, characterization, and validation; Conduct immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining procedures and prepare microscope slides for analysis; Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, and solutions in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs); Handle, label, aliquot, and store biological samples and laboratory materials following laboratory protocols; Collect, organize, and assist in the analysis of laboratory data and experimental results; Identify and report experimental variances or technical issues; Maintain accurate experimental records and documentation in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems; Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment used in biological testing and research; Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and cleaning; Follow laboratory safety procedures, quality control standards, and established protocols

Requirements

Degree or diploma in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field; Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience in biological, biotechnology, or biomedical environments; Experience performing laboratory tests and operating laboratory equipment; Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice to have

Knowledge of laboratory techniques such as microscopy, histochemistry, or electrophoresis is an asset
