Cafeteria Cook

A Staff Cafeteria Cook at Appellation Healdsburg is responsible for preparing and serving meals for employees in the staff cafeteria. This role ensures meals are prepared to meet internal standards for quality, taste, and safety while creating a welcoming dining experience for team members. The cook maintains efficiency in a high-volume kitchen environment and supports overall kitchen operations. The pay rate for this role is $22 per hour.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes following recipes and guidelines for the staff cafeteria with consistency and quality; Maintain standards for food appearance, temperature, and taste; Keep the cafeteria station clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations; Monitor stock levels and assist in ordering and managing inventory pars; Work in coordination with other cooks and team members to ensure smooth meal service; Comply with local health department regulations and internal sanitation procedures

Requirements

Minimum 1–2 years in a professional kitchen setting, preferably high-volume or institutional; Strong understanding of food safety practices; ServSafe certification required; Ability to safely and efficiently chop, dice, and slice ingredients; Comfort with cooking methods such as boiling, steaming, roasting, and preparing meals in batches; Clear verbal communication to coordinate with team members; Able to follow direction from the Food Service Manager and lead cooks; Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, reach, and stand or sit for extended periods; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institute (preferred but not required); Equivalent hands-on experience accepted; Experience in batch cooking; Experience in a high-volume or institutional environment
