Capital Markets Intern

finmid is on a mission to build an embedded lending infrastructure that unlocks growth for global platforms and 32 million European businesses. As a Capital Markets Intern, you will work directly with our Capital Markets Operations Manager and Head of Capital Markets, experience the day-to-day running of structured finance facilities, and assist with analytical and operational projects alongside Tech and Commercial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Calculating and analysing daily liquidity availability across facilities, ensuring figures are accurate and available to support timely funding and drawdown decisions; Preparing supporting files and requests for drawdowns and other funding requests, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate for submission; Maintaining note registers across facilities, keeping records of issuances, transfers, and balances up to date and consistent with underlying facility documentation; Calculating lender interest and fees and maintaining supporting records, ensuring accruals and payments are correctly tracked over time; Administering invoicing and payments, including preparing invoices, tracking payment status, and following up to ensure timely settlement; Supporting VAT filing and analysis, including preparing supporting schedules and assisting with review of VAT treatment where relevant; Administering facility documentation, including supporting equity injections, redemptions, and issuances, and ensuring documentation is complete and properly filed; Supporting annual and ad hoc audits, including preparing requested schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to auditor queries; Supporting the preparation of account reconciliations and identifying and helping resolve discrepancies across facility and cash accounts; Providing administrative and data support for new launches and facilities, including data gathering, setup tasks, and coordination across teams; Supporting automation initiatives and financial projections, helping streamline existing processes and contributing to forward-looking analysis; Supporting the preparation of analysis and diligence materials for discussions with lenders and development finance institutions (DFIs); Contributing to financial modelling and scenario analysis that feeds into strategic funding decisions across our lending facilities; Working directly with the Capital Markets Operations Manager and Head of Capital Markets; Gaining exposure to the design and execution of structured finance transactions with industry-leading investors and DFIs

Requirements

Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or a related field; Ideally, experience in the financial services industry (banking, asset management, fintech etc.) or in consulting; Based in (or willing to relocate to) Cape Town, London or Berlin for the internship, depending on the role; Fluent written and spoken English; Confident, presentable, and able to interact directly with a wide variety of stakeholders

Nice to have

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify, recommend and implement solutions based on large and complicated datasets; Project management skills; Proficiency in creating insightful reports, visualisations and presentations
