Communications Officer, Casual Role

Responsibilities

Answer telephone and radio calls, collect information and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel; Maintain accurate operation logs in accordance with federal emergency communication regulations; Monitor and operate the University camera and surveillance systems; Monitor fire, intrusion, trouble and panic alarms and alert emergency personnel as appropriate; Assist residential support services with student access and parking issues; Search recording logs to support officer requests; Update campus building address locations, GPS readings and building types in the database; Submit computerized work orders to the Facilities Department and coordinate personnel for routine and emergency calls after hours; Maintain vital communication between officers, the community, and external agencies; Perform additional non-essential tasks as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Nice to have

Vocational or Technical Training or Degree; Up to one year or more of experience in law enforcement, security, safety or dispatch training or related field; APCO Telecommunications Certification; APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification; CPR/First-Aid Certification
