CT Technologist

CT Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient; Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers and explain procedures; Interview patients for medical history and review EMRs; Assume responsibility for the exam until completion of dictated results; Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols; Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed; Perform basic patient care functions and assist in code blue procedures; Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; Practice radiation safety; Report malfunctioning equipment; Operate radiology computer system, including entering orders and charging procedures/supplies; Maintain assigned work area; Assist other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, during exams in conjunction with a CT scan; Rotate shifts as required including call back, holidays, and weekends

Requirements

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology; ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine; advanced registry from the ARRT in CT within one year of hire; BLS required
