Director, Quality Assurance

Scopely is looking for a Director of Quality Assurance to join the development team for our new free-to-play Adventure Game, bringing an iconic and beloved IP to players around the world on mobile and PC. This role can be based in our Culver City hub or remotely within the US or Canada.

Responsibilities

Shape and drive the quality vision for one of Scopely’s most ambitious upcoming projects; Define and execute QA strategies that ensure every player experiences a consistently high-quality, globally resonant game; Build and lead a team of quality professionals across multiple initiatives and regions; Develop modern tools, automation, and processes; Partner closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to champion a culture of quality; Drive adoption of modern testing strategies, automation frameworks, and tooling to support multi-platform development across PC and mobile; Apply deep technical expertise to develop and leverage test automation that enables rapid development while maintaining a high bar for quality; Establish, monitor, and evolve KPIs and quality metrics that assess product health, identify risks, and guide continuous improvement; Partner with development teams to embed quality practices throughout the development lifecycle; Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve QA efficiency, coverage, scalability, and reliability through automation and tooling; Define and execute a scalable, long-term QA vision and roadmap aligned with the project’s product and operational strategies; Own the QA organizational structure, hiring strategy, and resourcing plans; Influence product leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to embed quality considerations throughout the product lifecycle; Build a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and bias toward action; Develop a deep understanding of the product, its IP, and its core gameplay systems; Partner with senior leadership to identify quality risks, establish priorities, and ensure QA strategy evolves alongside the project; Exemplify Scopely’s core tenets and serve as a role model; Foster an inclusive and engaging team culture; Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing QA organization across multiple initiatives and locations; Identify and address capability gaps across the QA team, proactively developing future-ready talent and leadership pipelines.

Requirements

Significant experience leading Quality Assurance within game development, including experience operating at a senior leadership level; Strong technical expertise and a proven ability to achieve high levels of quality through automated testing across multiple phases of game development; Experience designing, implementing, or scaling test automation frameworks and modern QA tooling; Demonstrated experience supporting complex, multi-platform products, ideally across PC and mobile; Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing teams; Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail; Strong organizational, prioritization, time management, and accountability skills; Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to advocate effectively for your team while balancing broader product and business priorities; A proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment; Comfortable working within an agile development environment and managing quality coverage across multiple high-profile releases with strict deadlines; Exceptional reporting capabilities, including the ability to translate quality data and metrics into clear insights for senior stakeholders; Extensive knowledge of Jira or comparable defect-tracking and development-management systems; Willingness to travel occasionally to collaborate with teams across Scopely hub locations.
