Educator II, Central Services

Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of staff development, orientation and annual competency programs relative to sterile processing. Creates and coordinates the delivery of education, competencies and training programs to ensure sterile processing operations are standardized across the organization. Processes supplies, equipment and instrumentation, performing cleaning and sterilization duties, and preparing surgical packs, supplies and instrumentation for use in the operating rooms, clinics, and inpatient care areas.

Responsibilities

Responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of staff development, orientation and annual competency programs relative to sterile processing; Creates and coordinates delivery of education, competencies and training programs to ensure sterile processing operations are standardized; Processes supplies, equipment and instrumentation, performing cleaning and sterilization duties, and preparing surgical packs, supplies and instrumentation for use in operating rooms, clinics, and inpatient care areas; Creates and delivers curriculum related to Sterile Processing technique and regulation; Designs, develops, implements and monitors educational programs as subject matter expert; Develops and facilitates training and orientation for new staff and continued education for current staff; Collects and interprets statistical data on progress and success of educational programs; Creates and standardizes skills assessment in regards to care of instrument and equipment processing; Monitors instrument tracking reports and events reporting system; Develops programs to monitor infection prevention practices

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Health Care Management and 2 years supervisory experience in a hospital setting required; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CCST - Certified Central Service Technician within 180 days required; CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech within 180 days required
