Elementary School Special Education Teacher

The Intervention Specialist in Grades 3-5 works with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional and physical disabilities to ensure that lessons and teaching strategies meet the students’ needs, teach independent living skills, and provide appropriate literacy, communication, and math skills. This is a full-time REMOTE position.

Responsibilities

Modify and/or adapt the K12 curriculum to meet unique student needs; Write and maintain compliant IEPs for students with special needs; Collaborate with general education teachers to meet student goals; Educate parents on instructional strategies; Prepare appropriate documentation; Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings; Proctor achievement and other required testing, including alternative assessments; Collaborate with related services team to ensure IEP goals are developed and monitored; Teach independent living skills and provide appropriate literacy, communication, and math skills

Requirements

State of Ohio Intervention Specialist License; Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) proficiency; Web proficiency; Residency in Ohio preferred, or within 100 miles of Ohio border from Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, or Indiana; Ability to meet travel requirements and obtain Ohio Certification; Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week; Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday; Ability to pass required background check

Nice to have

Minimum 1 year classroom experience; Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Special Education; 3 or more years of classroom experience in Special Education
