Enterprise Internship for High School Students, Shelby NC

Advocate Health's 7-week Summer Internship Program offers a robust and well-rounded experience to high school students aged 16+. Students receive meaningful work aligned with their interests, gain valuable experience, build connections, and have the opportunity to attend professional development and social networking events throughout the summer. Departments offering internships include medical education, learning & simulation. Internship dates are 6/14/2027-7/30/2027. This is an on-site role assigned to work up to 24 hours Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

Structured, hands-on learning experience introducing high school students to healthcare careers and hospital operations; Rotate through or support various departments (clinical, administrative, operational, and support functions); Participate in educational activities, observational experiences, and assigned projects under the guidance of hospital team members; Attend professional development and social networking events throughout the summer; Develop foundational workplace and professional skills

Requirements

Currently enrolled in high school; aged 16+ before the start of the internship; Must have a demonstrated interest in exploring health care careers; Computer skills required; Work requires walking, sitting, lifting and reaching overhead; Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds, shoulder height; Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs or supplies on a rolling cart; Intact sense of sight and hearing is required; Responsible for working in a safe manner
