Environmental Services Tech I

Responsibilities

Clean/disinfect assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, patient televisions, windows, furniture, tile, fixtures, appliances, floors, and equipment with appropriate cleaning solutions; Operate various equipment following department procedures; Use chemicals and solutions following department policy; Keep work areas in orderly, clean and safe condition; Wash and sanitize beds and entire rooms and washrooms when patients are discharged; Use appropriate germicide in disinfecting rooms; Prepare detergents, germicidal solutions and other cleaning/disinfecting solutions according to established formulas; Sweep, dust mop, wet mop floors and spot clean carpets; Move and arrange furniture and equipment; Collect and/or distribute soiled and clean linens; Collect hazardous, medical and regular waste and sanitize garbage/waste containers; Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues and soap; Clean or sanitize after emergency spills as requested; Observe Standard (Universal) Precautions and Infection Control Policies

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience; Able to operate small electrical equipment e.g., vacuum cleaners; Excellent customer service skills; Ability to communicate effectively in English as related to the performance of the essential job activities outlined (including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials); Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the work day
