French Foreign Language Teacher- Part-Time

The Foreign Language Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Foreign Language Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Foreign Language Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system. They actively work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals. Foreign Language Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school.

Responsibilities

Delivering specific course content in an online environment; Providing instruction, support, and guidance, managing the learning process, and focusing on students’ individual needs; Monitoring student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system; Working closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals; Traveling occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school; Providing rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students; Personalizing learning for all students; Demonstrating a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations; Differentiating instruction based on student level of mastery; Augmenting course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from principal and coach; Maintaining grade book ensuring student academic integrity, making student placement and promotion decisions, and alerting administrators to concerns about student performance and progress; Preparing students for high stakes standardized tests; Establishing and maintaining positive rapport with families and regularly communicating with and responding to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner; Supporting learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment in line with academy policies and procedures; Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school

Requirements

Appropriate state Department of Education French Foreign Language Teaching Certification Required; Residency: open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.; Bachelor's degree; Active state teaching license; Ability to clear required background check; Ability to work independently; Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday; Availability and flexibility; Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions; Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers; Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes; Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint; Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to modern technologies and teaching platforms; Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
