General Laboratory Assistant (Evenings)

ALS Minerals, the global leader in geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures and data management solutions, is seeking motivated individuals to join its European hub lab in Loughrea, Co. Galway as General Laboratory Operators, with an immediate start. The role involves preparing and handling samples, operating laboratory equipment, following safety and quality procedures, and completing records in line with ISO 17025, INAB requirements and the laboratory's quality management system.

Responsibilities

Follow safety rules and practices at all times; Wear protective equipment specified for each task; Advise Supervisor of suspicious, potentially hazardous situations or improvement possibilities; Perform work as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or other supervisor and report completion; Follow written methods and procedures, or oral instructions when written instructions are unavailable; Check and maintain order of samples and sample identification, reporting deviations; Handle samples to preserve identification and prevent loss, contamination or confusion, and report accidents; Monitor quality of work, note anomalies and report when necessary; Fill in forms and worksheets and sign/initial records; Operate equipment according to instructions/manuals, check calibration status, report anomalies, perform routine maintenance, and keep equipment and workplace clean; Bring method or operation improvement considerations to the Laboratory Manager or Quality Manager; Complete all required records per ISO 17025, INAB requirements and the laboratory's quality management system

Requirements

Full or partial secondary education; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; previous laboratory experience is desirable
