General Manager

As our General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our swim schools in Yorktown Heights, New Rochelle, or Yonkers. You'll lead a large team of staff members, including swim instructors, lifeguards, and customer service representatives, ensuring that each member of our team is equipped with the skills and resources they need to succeed. In addition, you will also be responsible for maintaining facility cleanliness, implementing marketing strategies, driving membership sales and promoting our core Goldfish customer values.

Responsibilities

Overseeing day-to-day operations of the swim schools in Yorktown Heights, New Rochelle, or Yonkers; Leading a large team including swim instructors, lifeguards, and customer service representatives; Maintaining facility cleanliness; Implementing marketing strategies; Driving membership sales; Promoting core Goldfish customer values; Directing and controlling daily operations per GSS standard operating procedures; Managing staff to ensure high productivity, performance, and employee satisfaction; Training and overseeing the aquatics department; Interacting with Deck Supervisors on class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and employee performance/training; Providing sales and marketing training to qualified sales staff; Providing direction in the retail and vending departments; Training and overseeing private party staff; Gaining knowledge of scheduling software; Gaining knowledge of GSS pool operations; Initiating and overseeing workplace employee activities; Directing and overseeing implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and safety procedures; Maintaining current certifications; Scheduling staff and managing payroll; Fulfilling other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

College degree; Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification; Problem solver and creative thinking skills; Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and sales tracking; Experience with payroll systems and employee scheduling software; Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; Positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community; Passion for customer service and a commitment to upholding Goldfish Swim Schools' core values; Availability some evenings until 8pm (~3/week) and one weekend day per week (5 hour shift, done by 2pm); Must pass background examinations

Nice to have

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or equivalent; Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or aquatics instructor/supervisor; Ability to work with children; Strong aquatics background, including instruction and lifeguard experience; Experience hiring, managing, and training teams; Business experience in membership sales; Experience with maintenance of pool equipment and pool sanitation systems; Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment
