Health & Social Care Teacher

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality Health and Social Care lessons to students within an Alternative Provision setting; Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons that meet individual needs, abilities, and aspirations of learners; Teach Health and Social Care qualifications in line with curriculum requirements and awarding body specifications; Assess learners' starting points and develop individual learning plans; Monitor, record, and report on student attendance, engagement, behaviour, progress, and attainment; Prepare students for coursework, controlled assessments, and examinations; Differentiate teaching and learning strategies to support students with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, and those who have experienced barriers to education; Foster positive relationships with students to promote engagement, confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes; Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment; Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SENCOs, support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies; Maintain accurate and up-to-date assessment records, tracking data, and reports; Provide timely and constructive feedback to students; Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, progress reviews, and other meetings; Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion; Support students in developing knowledge, skills, and understanding for progression; Participate in departmental development, curriculum planning, quality assurance, staff training, and continuing professional development.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK; Experience teaching Health and Social Care at Key Stage 4 and/or Post-16 level; Strong understanding of SEND, SEMH, and inclusive teaching practices; Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills; Ability to motivate and engage students who may have experienced disruption to their education; Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
