Healthcare Tech Atrium Health Mercy Float Pool FT Days

Full-time Float Pool day shift (7a-7p), 40 hours per week, at Atrium Health Mercy in Charlotte, NC. Benefits eligible. The role assists RNs with direct patient care, documentation, and unit support tasks. No experience required.

Responsibilities

Assist RN with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation; Measure and document blood pressures, TPRs, I & O, daily weights, and other patient data; Document accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR); Perform purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicate patient/family observations, concerns, and needs; Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision; Answer patient call lights promptly; Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and perform point-of-care testing; Complete errands such as pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports; Maintain and order stock for nursing area; Clean equipment and work areas; Perform patient positioning and transporting duties; Support patient nutritional needs under RN direction; Maintain patient skin integrity and ensure special supplies and appliances are provided and maintained; Under RN direction, remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and perform bladder scans as required; Practice infection prevention, including hand hygiene, sterile and aseptic procedures, and proper disposal of contaminated materials

Requirements

High School Graduate, or GED, or HSED; No experience required; Basic computer skills; Excellent oral and written communication; Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities; Nurse Aide in good standing with the State Registry in which the team member practices; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 45 days; Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift; Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance; Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present; Must have functional vision and hearing
