Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other treatment modalities; Provide comprehensive care to patients, including developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, managing side effects, and coordinating care with other specialists; Consult with other physicians and members of the healthcare team on complex hematological and oncological cases; Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options and disease management, to support informed decision-making; Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed and provide ongoing support; Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Requirements

BLS or ACLS; Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school; Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); Fellowship training in Hem/Onc; Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM); Active and unrestricted medical license in Alaska; At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting; Strong understanding of Hem/Onc principles, treatments and procedures; Excellent clinical judgment and the ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations; Ability to effectively communicate complex information to patients, families and healthcare teams; Expertise in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests; Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams
