HGV Class 1 Shunter Nights (4 on 4 off)

Working within the Transport Department the main purpose of the role is to ensure a smooth

transition when loading, unloading trailers, and ensuring maintenance and safety at all times.

Shift- 4on4off Nights 18:00pm-06:00am

Salary- £41,262.40 PA .

Responsibilities

Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times; Responsible for shunting Class 1 vehicles in the yard to assist with safe loading and unloading of our trailers. Other responsibilities also include carrying out safety checks of the yard, safety checks on trailer, ensuring yard safety rules adhered to.; Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive; Liaising with colleagues and ensuring completion of shift report; Conducting daily checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage and completing associated documentation; Carrying out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff; Completing trailer checklist and reporting to operations desk; Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks; Liaising with the warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading / unloading of trailers; Completing vehicles downloads as per the company policy; Monitoring services / MOTs – liaising with Transport Office and with service vendor; Assisting with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel; Keeping yard in clean / tidy condition; Liaising with Transport Office as and when required i.e. special promotions and / or livery schedules; Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard; Driver may occasionally be required to assist with local driving duties on Class 1 vehicles; Overtime is available for both shunting and driving shifts

Requirements

Candidate must have Class 1 license and up to date 3 cards (C+E license, digital tacho card and CPC card)
