Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Specialist SEMH School in Esher. Esher, Surrey. £130 per day | Full-Time | 8:30am – 4:30pm | Long-Term Opportunity | September Start. We’re recruiting for a brand-new specialist school opening in Esher this September, supporting pupils aged 7–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This is a fantastic opportunity to join the school’s founding team, helping to shape a positive and nurturing learning environment from day one.

Responsibilities

Lead learning sessions and provide classroom cover when required; Deliver engaging lessons and targeted interventions to individuals, small groups and whole classes; Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs to engage in learning and achieve their goals; Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team; Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence

Requirements

Previous experience as an HLTA, experienced Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or Unqualified Teacher; Confident leading lessons or taking responsibility for groups of pupils; Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs; Calm, resilient and able to build positive relationships; Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning; Must have the right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa; Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks; Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
