Lab Technical Coordinator Point of Care-Full-time Days

Full-time, 40 hours per week position located at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. The Lab Technical Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine and works with pathologists and physician-specialists to coordinate the assessment, development and implementation of technology/testing in the laboratory and oversee daily operations.

Responsibilities

Coordinates laboratory operations and oversees daily operations; Works with pathologists and physician-specialists to coordinate the assessment, development and implementation of technology/testing in the laboratory; Develops SOPs and maintains document control; Reviews and verifies accuracy of results, quality control (QC) records and quality assurance (QA) parameters; Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, TJC, CAP, AABB and hospital regulations, policies and procedures; Participates in planning and maintenance of the laboratory information system (LIS); Coordinates and monitors section staffing, scheduling and staff training, competency and evaluation; Oversees inventory system and supply requests in accordance with section budget requirements; Coordinates maintenance and repair activities related to equipment and facilities; Performs complex testing at the bench with documented training and competency; Coordinates handling and reporting of proficiency testing; Assures billing for services is accurate, timely and compliant; Assists in preparation and monitoring of expense/revenue budgets; Works with Medical Directors on implementing goals, objectives, budgets, new programs and resolving technical and operational issues; Supports clinical quality management activities; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

BS degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical lab science or medical technology; Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience including professional experience in a technical specialty specific to the role; MLS/BB/C/CG/CT/H/HTL/I/M/MB ASCP Board of Registry certification within 1 year of hire

Minimum of five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience including professional experience in a technical specialty specific to the role
