Lead Operator

Position Purpose

Leads Operators and O&M Technicians in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant.

Responsibilities

Responsible for operating and monitoring main control system.; Performs Wastewater process control and preventative maintenance/corrective maintenance functions.; Coordinates and works with maintenance staff on preventive and corrective maintenance functions.; Performs cleaning and general housekeeping duties in work areas including office, laboratory, cleaning of clarifiers, headworks, centrifuge, and other process equipment as assigned.; May be required to work in sanitary sewerage collection systems including maintenance of lift stations.; May be required to operate automotive equipment, including heavy trucks, forklifts and front-end loaders.; Adheres to all safety regulations.; May train or assist in the training of OITs and assigned helpers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in related field/or equivalent work experience.; 8+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.; Capable of being assigned as responsible charge of the facility with an ability to react to unplanned events.; Grade IV or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate.; Valid Driver’s License.; Commercial Driver's License.; Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; Ability to perform the following: straight pulling, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeated bending and sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to distinguish basic colors and various shades.
