Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1905, AMERICAN is a manufacturer of fire hydrants, valves, ductile iron and spiral-welded steel pipe for the waterworks industry, and high-frequency-welded steel pipe for the oil and natural gas industries.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers with troubleshooting electrical issues and day-to-day operations; Help update and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation

Requirements

Available to start Summer 2027; Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Basic knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Good written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

Basic knowledge of CAD software, PLCs, or industrial controls; Strong computer, technical, and problem-solving skills; Good work ethic and interpersonal skills; Ability to collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers; Highly organized with strong attention to detail; Interest in learning about electrical systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment
