Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer

A well-established UK manufacturer is looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (mechanically biased) to join their flagship Heywood facility. Responsibilities

Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance to maximise OEE, minimise downtime, and enhance equipment reliability; Diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical faults, while supporting electrical maintenance activities when required; Work closely with engineering colleagues, production teams, and other departments to ensure smooth operations; Maintain exceptional health & safety standards and promote safe working practices; Identify improvement opportunities and support the implementation of process enhancements; Contribute to ongoing engineering and improvement projects

Requirements

Time-served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with multi-skilled capabilities; Strong mechanical fault-finding skills across conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, pneumatics, and associated production equipment; Comfortable working in a busy, high-demand setting; Strong team player with a proactive attitude toward learning and development; Capable of working independently when required; Open to internal training and upskilling opportunities

Nice to have

Experience within Food, FMCG, Packaging, Manufacturing, or similar fast-paced industrial environments; Basic electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience
