Medical Assistant Family Medicine Johnstown

The position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience. Work shift: Day. Shift details: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7am - 5:30pm; Saturday rotation requirement, 8am - noon, at least one time per month. Department: C/P-Johnstown Fam Prac-Clinic. Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other measurements, and recording chief complaint; Report patient condition changes to the clinician; Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including phlebotomy, ear irrigation and EKGs; Act as chaperone as needed; Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; Communicate test results to patients; May administer medications per established policies or as directed; Provide clerical support and complete medical records; Provide accurate information for billing; Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment and exam rooms; Order supplies and manage medication ordering; Develop and maintain effective communication with internal and external customers; Complete required on-boarding and orientation activities; Manage medication authorizations, administer vaccinations and perform point-of-care testing; Prepare patients for exams and treatment using skills such as injections, blood draws and EKGs

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge; Completion of a Banner approved medical assistant training program that also meets state defined regulations; Active Medical Assistant Certification (RMA from AMT, CMA from AAMA, CCMA from NHA, or NCMA from NCCT); BLS certification required upon hire; Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion

Nice to have

Experience with office medical procedures and treatments; Knowledge of insurance and managed care operations; Experience with EMR and scheduling software; Additional related education and/or experience
