Medical Technologist - Full Time - Days - 15k Retention Bonus

The Medical Technologist position works in collaboration with department leadership to support the needs of the laboratory department, performing, interpreting and reporting clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids. Full time, days.

Responsibilities

Performs, interprets and reports clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids; Maintains competency in licensed areas with flexibility to perform testing in these areas as needed; Ensures continuous operation of testing analyzers, laboratory processes and equipment through quality control, calibrations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and contacting service for repairs; Correlates test results and relates them to patient treatment; Participates in evaluation, implementation and validation of new equipment and techniques; Assists in orientation and training of new team members; Maintains laboratory supply and reagent inventory and places or expedites orders; Conserves laboratory resources; Reviews pending logs and communicates findings to the next shift; Maintains professional knowledge through workshops, publications and professional societies; Serves as a resource for departments outside the laboratory for medical laboratory technology; Maintains workflow through cooperation; Maintains a safe and clean working environment; Adheres to infection-control and hazardous waste policies; Maintains patient confidentiality; Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Licensed as a medical technologist in the state of Florida; Cognizant ability to correlate results from a variety of tests and relate them to patient treatment; Ability to multitask and learn a variety of instrumentation and software systems; Ability to work in a stressful environment, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated; Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs; Annual Joint Commission mandatory education and in-service requirements; TB/PPD Surveillance Program; Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certifications

Nice to have

AA/AS or BS preferred; ASCP or equivalent certification preferred; Microsoft Office skills; Ability to learn a variety of instrumentation and software systems
