Mercury Marine: Accounting Intern

As part of the talented Central Accounting team, you will obtain hands-on experience with month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced accounting environment. You work closely with accounting and finance teams while gaining exposure to corporate accounting processes and internal controls.

Responsibilities

Assist with monthly fixed asset accounting activities, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation calculations; Support physical asset verification projects and fixed asset audits; Support intercompany accounting processes, including recording and reconciling intercompany transactions; Assist with monthly & quarterly close activities; Prepare account reconciliations and supporting journal entries; Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements; Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and ad hoc analyses as assigned; Maintain compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and U.S. GAAP requirements

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits; Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the months May through August of 2027; Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements; Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent academic standing

Nice to have

Junior or senior standing in an Accounting or Finance program; Prior internship, co-op, or accounting-related work experience; Understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts; Continuous improvement mindset and interest in process automation
