Part-Time Fine Dining Server-FOH Swing

Magdalena is an upscale, vibrant bistro in the Ivy Hotel, known for its seasonal menus, exceptional wine selection, and warm hospitality. This is a FOH position for candidates who can operate all service roles, Server, Support, Host and Bar while ensuring that service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by department head.

Responsibilities

Operate all service roles: Server, Support, Host and Bar; Ensure service is performed in a professional manner and to the style specified; Communicate with other restaurant staff and departments; Maintain communication between kitchen and restaurant regarding specials, shortages, and dietary requirements; Establish and maintain good guest relationships and handle complaints, requests, and enquiries; Provide explanations of dishes and sell and serve wines and champagnes; Welcome, sit, and take food orders from guests; Attend staff briefings and obtain guest feedback; Support colleagues at peak times and undertake reasonable operational duties; Monitor and report health and safety issues

Requirements

FOH position; Ability to operate all service roles: Server, Support, Host and Bar; Ensure service is performed in a professional manner; Communicate with other restaurant staff and departments; Follow company policy, vision statement, and departmental objectives; Be fully conversant with hotel products and services; Maintain good communication between kitchen, restaurant, and other departments; Establish and maintain good relationships with guests; Handle complaints, requests, and enquiries; Be fully conversant with every dish served; Solid understanding of current wine list and ability to sell and serve wines and champagnes; Act as a brand ambassador; Ensure guest wishes are met; Welcome, sit, and take food orders from guests; Attend staff briefings; Obtain guest feedback; Contribute to formulation and review of risk assessments; Monitor and report health and safety issues; Operate safe practices; Be aware of fire and safety procedures; Support colleagues at peak times; Report punctually in full uniform; Ability to stand, walk, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; Ability to lift and carry restaurant stock and food supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; Ability to work in a restaurant and kitchen environment
