Patient Care I

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities. Shift: Nights.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities; Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff; Assists with transporting patients, as needed; Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating; Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly; Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output; Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

No degree or other education required; BLS certification (American Heart Association e-card, AHA RQI e-card, AHA non-ecard, Red Cross, or employee grace period for essential credential); Three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care, or certification of completion from a formal training program; EKG and phlebotomy competencies required within six (6) months of hire date; Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision; Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
