PHY SW Engineer - 12 Month Internship (July 2027)

We are looking for a talented and motivated intern to join our team developing physical layer (PHY) software for our 4G and 5G products. The position is a 12-month internship at our office in the centre of Bristol, where you will be working alongside a team of approximately 50 people, part of a larger (500+) international R&D team motivated by building the future of telecoms.

Responsibilities

Develop real-time PHY software features on the latest multi-core Intel / AMD / ARM CPUs.; Integrate, test and validate features on servers within lab and AWS cloud end-to-end environments.; Build test scripts and debug tools that form part of our software CI/CD and release packages.; Use AI coding agents day to day to develop and debug PHY software, scripts and tools.; Use various lab equipment for end-to-end testing: UE simulators, mobile phones (Android), and other RF equipment.

Requirements

Strong C and/or C++ programming skills (assessed at technical interview).; Experience with Python scripting.; Interest in AI-assisted software development.; Willingness to learn about wireless communications. Prior experience is an advantage but not a requirement.
