Physician Assistant, PA-C, Neurosurgery, Libertyville - Full Time

Advocate Condell Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Physician Assistant to join a dynamic Neurosurgery team. This role offers a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient care, exposure to a wide range of neurosurgical cases, and strong mentorship within a high-performing group. Position Overview: Schedule: 4 10 hour shifts Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Practice Setting: 50% inpatient / 50% outpatient; Call Responsibilities: 1 weekday call per week, 1 weekend every 6 weeks with rounding; Team Structure: 4 Neurosurgeons, 5 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Practice Highlights: This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment offering a broad spectrum of neurosurgical exposure, including spine, brain, and peripheral nerve cases. The team fosters a collaborative culture where APPs are valued contributors and actively supported in expanding their clinical and procedural skill sets. Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage neurosurgical patients in both clinic and hospital settings in collaboration with attending physicians; Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and respond to patient inquiries and follow-up needs; Participate in daily rounding across two hospital locations; First assist in a variety of neurosurgical procedures, including spine, cranial, and peripheral nerve cases; Provide on-call coverage, managing acute patient concerns and supporting surgical cases as needed; Assess, diagnose, and determine/alter treatment and management plans; Order, perform, and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies; Provide health promotion, disease prevention and disease management counseling and education; Maintain accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; Participate in quality, safety, and peer review initiatives

Requirements

Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice; Active PA national board certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants; Active DEA registration prior to hire; If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire; Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire; Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant; No experience required; Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency and excellent decision-making skills; Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team; Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record; Excellent communication skills; Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others; Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively; Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday; Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing; Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance, and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
