Printer Operator

The Printer Operator is responsible for setting-up, adjusting and maintaining the decorator and related equipment

Responsibilities

Setting up, adjusting and maintaining the decorator and related equipment; Understanding and complying with position related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment; Checking machines; analyzing types of mechanical or operational troubles and planning for and taking corrective action to maintain quality; Making changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for change in material, size or product; Checking, testing and measuring product for quality specifications; examining for visual defects; Making repairs or overhauls as required; replacing worn or damaged parts; retiming machine action; Operating, repairing, cleaning, lubricating equipment as required to maintain production; clearing jams; checking varnishes, coatings, inks, lubricants, supplies and adding or changing materials; requesting or obtaining additional quantities of supplies; Examining, testing and measuring product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using appropriate gauges and instruments and recording data; Performing preventative maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, reporting findings and taking appropriate action; performing maintenance work orders as required; Notifying supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted; Operating equipment and assisting as directed

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent; Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment; Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools; Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents; Basic dry-offset printing skills/knowledge; Ability to troubleshoot litho/printing press issues; Detail oriented; Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility; Able to bend and rotate body repeatedly; Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noise; Able to lift up to 35 pounds; push/pull 500 pound drums with hand-truck; Ability to work multiple machines in a fast-paced environment; Able to climb stairs frequently; Able to visually differentiate colors and read fine print; Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and night shifts
