Product Designer - Maternity Leave

Similarweb, a leading AI-powered digital intelligence company, is looking for a curious and hands-on Product Designer to join its design team as a maternity leave replacement. The role involves taking product areas from A to Z, working closely with product managers and engineers to turn complex problems into intuitive designs that serve user needs and business goals. The designer will join a centralized design team reporting to a practicing product designer. The product is moving toward AI agents and AI-driven insights, and the role includes designing AI-powered experiences, building working features with AI tools, and maintaining the design system. The role is hybrid, with office collaboration and the ability to work partially from home.

Responsibilities

Own meaningful areas of the product from research and ideation through user flows, prototyping, testing, microcopy, and launch; Turn dense, complex data into experiences people can read, trust, and act on; Design AI-powered experiences, including agentic flows, prompt- and conversation-driven interfaces, and AI-generated insights; Use AI throughout the design process to prototype working flows, explore directions, and put real interactions in front of stakeholders and users early; Build working features using AI tools, taking designs further and knowing what is ready to ship versus what needs engineering review; Maintain and evolve the design system (components, variables, tokens, patterns, guidelines); Use quantitative and qualitative data tools to research, track, and measure design flows; Communicate design decisions, progress, and outcomes with stakeholders, including executives; Bring back new tools and workflows and adopt what works

Requirements

3+ years of experience in product design with a proven track record of delivering digital SaaS products; Strong data visualization instincts, comfortable with dense analytical interfaces (time series, benchmarks, funnels, tables); Strong portfolio demonstrating design skills, process, and impact on business objectives; Hands-on experience working with AI as part of day-to-day design practice (prototyping, exploration, research, or production work); Enough technical literacy to build, not just hand off, and to tell good output from output that only looks good; Design systems experience, fluent in Figma libraries (components, variants, variables, tokens) and keeping design and code in sync with engineers; Excellent communication skills, including presenting designs to various stakeholders; Comfort with ambiguity and enough independence to be the only designer on a problem

Nice to have

Experience designing AI-native features (agents, copilots, chat, or generative interfaces); Experience on complex SaaS or analytics platforms; Experience writing structured context files for AI tools (such as design.md, AGENTS.md, or custom prompt rules); Experience designing products for digital marketers, or in competitive intelligence, e-commerce, web analytics, or the mobile app ecosystem; Having built a design system
