Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for promoting employee safety and supervising production operations within assigned departments and work centers. This role ensures compliance with daily production plans, manufacturing schedules, and shipment requirements while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, cost control, and workplace safety. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for employee training, performance management, and compliance with established company policies, procedures, regulations, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

Promoting employee safety and supervising production operations within assigned departments and work centers; Ensuring compliance with daily production plans, manufacturing schedules, and shipment requirements; Maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, cost control, and workplace safety; Employee training, performance management, and compliance with company policies; Identifying unsafe conditions and eliminating potential safety hazards; Investigating workplace incidents and implementing corrective actions; Ensuring incident reports are completed accurately; Analyzing safety performance and implementing improvements; Coaching and monitoring employees for safety compliance; Staffing work centers based on workload and production demands; Training and cross-training operators; Measuring operator performance and efficiency; Tracking attendance and promoting employee engagement; Partnering with Human Resources on employee relations; Coordinating with Planning Supervisor on production schedules; Ensuring scrap is accurately reported and investigating scrap trends; Analyzing OSRs and resolving issues; Coordinating with Engineering and Maintenance; Reviewing operator performance and driving continuous improvement; Organizing work centers to maximize efficiency; Facilitating team meetings; Maintaining housekeeping standards; Reducing unnecessary material handling; Developing material staging methods; Achieving minimum earned labor efficiency of 70%; Reducing indirect labor; Ensuring available capacity meets production requirements; Monitoring and reducing late orders; Supporting on-time delivery objectives; Reducing downtime through efficient setups and maintenance; Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs

Requirements

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment required; Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment; Experience leading production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment; Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees; Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a dynamic manufacturing environment; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across departments; Team-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to build collaboration and teamwork; Proficiency in interpreting production metrics and using data to drive performance improvements; Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment and machinery; Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility as needed; Ability to follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to work extended hours as needed to support production demands

Nice to have

Direct wire and cable manufacturing experience preferred; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred
