PT Public Safety and Security Guard - Wilmington Convention Center

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for promoting public safety and security throughout the facility during scheduled shifts at the Wilmington Convention Center to ensure the protection of clients, guests, employees, and physical property.

Responsibilities

Promote public safety and security throughout the facility during scheduled shifts; Enforce public safety policies and procedures during assigned events; Conduct interior and exterior rounds and report any unusual issues or incidents; Provide safety escorts as requested; Document all notable incidents in appropriate logbooks and participate in incident investigations as needed; Direct visitors, vendors, deliveries, and related personnel to proper areas; Notify appropriate personnel of arrivals and departures; Monitor persons on premises to ensure proper identification and authorization; Perform crowd and traffic flow controls within the facility during events; Respond to emergency situations and alert appropriate public emergency response team member(s); Conduct regular safety inspections and assist in implementation of corrective actions; May direct contracted security personnel as needed; Open and/or close the WCC building on scheduled workdays; Monitor all physical security equipment, such as key control, badge access, and video surveillance systems; Secure locations and prohibit access to unauthorized personnel, challenge unauthorized personnel in restricted areas; Enforce security policies and procedures associated with crime prevention and building protection

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required; Minimum of 6 months safety/security experience working in a public assembly, hotel, or another commercial facility; Knowledge of effective emergency response and crisis management; History of integrity, reliability, and professionalism; Skills in problem resolution; Excellent customer service skills, given frequent interaction with clients, guests, vendors, and other visitors; Ability to operate radios, video equipment, and fire alarm systems; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays; Ability to move around the facility, stand for long hours during events, talk and hear, and lift and carry 40 pounds

Nice to have

CPR, AED, and 1st Aid certification preferred
