Pupil Engagement Mentor – Specialist SEMH School

Pink Tile Education is recruiting Pupil Engagement Mentors to join a specialist SEMH school in Guildford. The role is less focused on traditional classroom teaching and more about engagement, relationships and emotional support, making it ideal for candidates from education, youth work, care, coaching or support backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis; Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils; Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence; Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour; Helping pupils access learning and participate in school life; Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to meet individual needs; Providing a calm, structured and supportive presence throughout the school day

Requirements

Experienced working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs; Calm, patient and resilient; Confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation; Strong communicator who can build genuine relationships; Passionate about making a positive difference to young people’s lives; Full UK driving licence holder with access to a vehicle; Right to work in the UK or valid work visa; Suitable references for pre-employment checks; Enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Nice to have

Experience in education, youth work, residential care, support work, coaching or similar settings
