Radiologic Technologist 2

Produces high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted. With minimal supervision, demonstrates proficiency and competence in all aspects of job responsibilities and expectations, and consistently demonstrates initiative to assist in other areas of the department when the need arises. May work with student technologists to sign off on their required competencies while rotating through department. Requires minimal supervision. Completes all associated paper and computer work for discharging patients with appropriate post procedure instructions. Additional duties may include working on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations and assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees.

Responsibilities

Produces high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner; Verifies and follows referring providers' orders; Maintains compliance with Imaging Sciences departmental policies; Prepares room and patient per order; Sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors; Utilizes electronic patient information systems; Practices the Dual patient identifier procedure; Maintains appropriate supplies in X-ray rooms; Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist; Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices; Maintains accurate patient record keeping and sends images to PACS; Completes and bills for studies accurately; May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology; Equivalent combination of education and experience; CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire; ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CE credits upon hire
