Registered Nurse RN Nursery Nights

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive postpartum and well-baby couplet care; Perform newborn admissions, including NRP and STABLE protocols, APGAR scoring, and newborn transition care; Provide Level I Nursery care, including IV placement and antibiotic administration, gavage feedings, and respiratory support; Provide jaundice (phototherapy) care; Manage hypoglycemia; Assess patient needs and formulate, implement, and evaluate plans of care; Document nursing care in the patient record; Collaborate with the health care team and communicate patient status; Participate in education, orientation, precepting and mentoring when appropriate; Mandatory on-call during times of high census

Requirements

Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice; BLS certification required; Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations; Relates experience, training and education needed to perform the job throughout the interview process; Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice

Nice to have

Bachelor's degree preferred; Professional certification preferred; Inpatient nursing experience; Postpartum and/or NICU experience preferred; Additional related education and/or experience preferred
