Registered Nurse RN Trauma PCU

Trauma PCU RN position on a 36-bed trauma specialty unit within a Level 1 Trauma designated hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center, providing specialized care for high acuity adult trauma patients. Rooms are private and remotely monitored by telemetry technicians. Position involves 3x12-hour shifts with weekend rotations using a self-scheduling tool.

Responsibilities

Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; Formulates and revises plan of care in collaboration with patient, family and multidisciplinary team; Implements plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision; Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; Provides care based on best evidence and may participate in research activities; Participates in unit or facility shared leadership and in education and orientation of personnel, patients, students and families; Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate; Participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; In some roles, supervises staff and work flow of the department; Interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts concerning patient health care

Requirements

Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice; BLS certification required; Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice; Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired; Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations; Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, including acute care within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
