Registered Respiratory Therapist Part-Time

This position independently provides respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in a variety of health care settings. This opportunity is a part-time night shift; 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Performs all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners; Applies and manages mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort and to expedite the weaning process; Assembles, disassembles, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, cleans and performs adjustments to durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care; Performs pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed; Performs patient assessments, evaluates patient response to care, and makes recommendations to physicians regarding the plan of care; Documents therapy provided accurately and completely; Communicates and collaborates with resource staff in formulating care plans and identifying/resolving problems; May supervise department staff; May be assigned to a variety of areas throughout the system where respiratory care is needed

Requirements

Associate or technical degree; Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Current license in state practiced as required by state law; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Knowledge of clinical techniques, applications and equipment typically obtained through one year of clinical experience; Highly effective human relation skills to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel; Eligibility for the sign-on bonus requires 1+ years of registered respiratory therapist experience; Banner Registry positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, including work in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the specialty area
