Retool Product Owner - Low Code/AWS/Claude/Python

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Retool Product Owner & Low-Code Solutions Lead to drive the growth, adoption, governance, and support of the Retool platform across the enterprise of one of our client’s organizations. Focus for this role is 50 - 60% hands-on Builder/Solution, 40-50% Product Owner, Evangelist and Trainer. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert (SME) and product owner for Retool while partnering closely with business leaders, developers, architects, and technology teams to identify, design, and implement innovative business solutions.

Responsibilities

Serve as the enterprise owner and primary SME for the Retool platform; Define the platform vision, roadmap, governance model, and adoption strategy; Evaluate new business use cases and determine solution feasibility; Develop standards, reusable patterns, and best practices for solution development; Act as the primary liaison between the client company and Retool; Partner with business stakeholders to understand workflows, business processes, and operational challenges; Facilitate requirements gathering and solution discovery workshops; Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions; Design low-code, workflow, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that deliver measurable business value; Provide architectural guidance and technical direction to developers and citizen developers; Build rapid prototypes and proof-of-concepts for business cases; Demonstrate potential value, efficiency gains, and automation opportunities; Convert successful prototypes into production-ready solutions; Lead solution demonstrations with business and technology leadership; Serve as the primary support resource for Retool developers and business users; Troubleshoot platform issues and provide advanced guidance; Assist development teams with architecture, integrations, and best practices; Maintain knowledge articles, documentation, and self-service resources; Establish a strong support model for platform users; Lead recurring Retool Office Hours sessions; Conduct platform demonstrations and enablement workshops; Build and grow an internal community of practice; Support onboarding of new developers and business users; Promote Citizen Development best practices throughout the organization; Define and manage governance standards and operational procedures; Support release management, change management, and lifecycle processes; Partner with infrastructure and security teams on SSO and identity management, role-based security, source control integrations, environment strategy, platform performance and monitoring; Ensure compliance with enterprise security and architecture standards; Identify opportunities to leverage AI within business applications; Design and implement solutions utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI services; Build AI-powered assistants, workflow automation capabilities, and intelligent business applications; Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend new capabilities for the platform roadmap; Deliver instructor-led training sessions; Develop onboarding programs and learning paths; Mentor business developers and technical teams; Create reusable training and enablement content; Help establish a sustainable Low-Code Center of Excellence

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field; 5+ years of experience delivering enterprise software solutions or business applications; 3+ years of experience supporting, administering, developing, or owning a low-code/no-code platform; Experience serving as a product owner, platform owner, solution architect, technical lead, or similar role; Strong JavaScript development skills; Experience integrating REST, GraphQL, and enterprise APIs; Strong JavaScript, Python, SQL and relational database knowledge; Experience integrating applications with cloud services and enterprise systems; Experience with GitHub, source control, and modern software delivery practices; Experience supporting production application environments; Hands-on experience with cloud-native services, preferably AWS, including AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, Step Functions, Secrets Manager, IAM, CloudWatch; Strong communication and presentation skills; Ability to work effectively with executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams; Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; Experience leading workshops, training, and user enablement sessions; Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical execution; Experience with one or more platforms such as Retool, Microsoft Power Platform, Appian, OutSystems, Mendix, ServiceNow App Engine, Salesforce Platform, Pega, Quickbase, Oracle APEX, Zoho Creator, Nintex, UiPath Apps, Workato, Creatio, Betty Blocks, or equivalent enterprise application platform experience; Experience working with Generative AI and large language models (LLMs); Experience integrating solutions with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Amazon Bedrock, or similar enterprise AI platforms; Understanding of AI-assisted workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and intelligent automation concepts

Nice to have

Retool administration or development experience; Experience building and governing a Center of Excellence (CoE); Experience leading enterprise platform adoption initiatives; Experience with Python, TypeScript, or Node.js; Experience supporting Citizen Development programs; Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks; Familiarity with data platforms, analytics environments, and machine learning solutions; Experience implementing AI governance and responsible AI practices
