Roll Grinder Operator

Valmet has an opening at its Aiken, SC facility as a Grinder Operator. The role involves setting up and operating all roll grinders, making required adjustments and roll alignments, performing bearing assemblies on all roll types, translating prints and instructions into finished quality roll products, and handling minor machine repairs/adjustments.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate all roll grinders, making required adjustments and roll alignments; perform bearing assemblies on all roll types enabling set-up for the grinder procedure; translate prints and instructions into a finished quality roll product (rough to finish grind); responsibility for all minor machine repairs/adjustments including performance maintenance assigned to machinery; make requests for repair and service through the preventive maintenance system

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); strong mechanical aptitude; ability to understand, follow instructions and complete tasks; capable of wearing and using other safety equipment as required; good understanding of measuring instruments and capable of taking accurate measurements to check and perform job functions; knowledge of machine tool and fabricating operations
