SEIU Environmental Svcs Worker

Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, administration/academic buildings, etc.

Responsibilities

Perform general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in University buildings such as residence halls, hospital, and administration/academic buildings; Operate a variety of light or heavy duty housekeeping and floor maintenance machines and equipment to strip, wax and buff floors; Perform cleaning and disinfecting procedures by fogging rooms and washing floors, walls, furniture and fixtures with germicidal detergents; Wash walls, ceilings and stairs; clean overhead equipment; vacuum rugs, furniture and draperies; make empty beds; distribute linen; Wash windows, blinds, screens, draperies and curtains; Empty wastebaskets and pick up trash from designated areas; load trash into dump truck and push to compactor area; Clean kitchens and dining areas; Perform custodial-type duties such as moving equipment/furniture, changing light bulbs and shoveling snow; Maintain cleanliness of work storage closet and equipment

Requirements

Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions; Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach continuously; Ability to handle heavy and medium-weight material, equipment and supplies; Exposure to refuse, dirt, dust, detergents, body wastes and odors indoors and outdoors; Occasional exposure to infection and infectious diseases
