SEIU Perioperative Support Assoc

Sensitive to the physical environment, following universal precautions: Transports/receives specimens, stocks unit supplies and linen, handles/disposes of body/bloody fluids, secures equipment as needed, preps, shaves, and transports patients as directed by the Nursing Staff. Retrieves case carts, locates and sets up equipment, performs all general housekeeping, floor care maintenance, trash/linen removal, reprocessing and downloading of sterile supplies. Aware of basic aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

Transports/receives specimens; stocks unit supplies and linen; handles/disposes of body/bloody fluids; secures equipment as needed; preps, shaves, and transports patients as directed by the Nursing Staff; retrieves case carts; locates and sets up equipment; performs all general housekeeping, floor care maintenance, trash/linen removal; reprocessing and downloading of sterile supplies; aware of basic aseptic technique; transports patients to and from the Operating Room suite; validates patient identification; demonstrates knowledge of special equipment used in O.R. suite; assists surgeons and nursing staff with patient positioning; restocks supplies; retrieves containers and supplies from OR suite; picks dry good supplies for upcoming surgical cases; manages Neptune filters; transports case carts; stocks linen in warmers and bags of fluid with expiration dates

Requirements

High School education required including at least 2 years of experience in related field; ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to successfully complete 16 week Orientation/Training/Equipment and Service program required

Nice to have

Previous hospital operating/Trauma room experience preferred; medical/surgical experience in a Health Care Facility setting preferred; Trauma center setting preferred; Knowledge of OR service equipment helpful
