Responsibilities

Lead assessment of complex statutory building proposals; Provide expert compliance advice and resolve challenging cases; Represent the City at hearings and tribunals with confidence; Investigate breaches and drive enforcement outcomes; Mentor and develop a high-performing team; Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes; Support the Principal Building Surveyor in strategic oversight; Champion best practice and continuous improvement

Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Building or related discipline; Building Surveyor Practitioner Registration (Level 1 or 2); Extensive experience in statutory building control; Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and processes; Excellent communication and negotiation skills; Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive matters; Experience in staff supervision and mentoring; Current Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance
