Senior Director, Analytics & Data Science

As Senior Director of Analytics & Data Science, you will play a key role in how Crusoe makes decisions. This is a new role leading a newly formed team of centralized analysts and data scientists embedded directly with the business units and domains they support. The mandate spans cloud, customer experience, construction, power, manufacturing, and more. You will report into the CFO/COO organization, define the operating model, hire and develop the team, set standards for consistent company-wide metrics, and partner with leadership on faster, better-informed decisions. Initially the work is foundational, building data models and definitions; the team will later take on more forecasting, experimentation, and predictive work.

Responsibilities

Stand up the central analytics team and design its staffing and operating model; define how analysts are deployed, how work is prioritized, and how the team engages with each domain; recruit and grow analysts and data scientists, and build the career path and development model; set standards for analytical rigor, including experimental design, forecasting, and communicating uncertainty; determine where predictive and statistical methods will have the most impact; own certified marts, the metric dictionary, and business-rule testing; establish peer review as a standard practice; own certified executive, board, and cross-business reporting; turn complex cross-functional questions into actionable analysis and recommendations; build toward self-service analytics for the business; keep analysts embedded in their business domains; partner with the Data team on the data foundation and business definitions

Requirements

15+ years in analytics or data science; 5+ years leading teams that include data scientists as well as analysts and analytics engineers; hired for both disciplines and set technical standards across them; fluency with SQL and Python; strong data modeling instincts; hands-on experience with dbt or equivalent; ability to build a certified data mart and review team models substantively; direct experience applying forecasting, experimental design, and statistical inference to business problems, including ownership of models in production; experience with a modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, or equivalents); experience defining and certifying metrics, testing business rules, resolving entities across systems; business and financial acumen (P&L mechanics, unit economics, capital projects, returns analysis); executive communication skills; proven ability to operate in a dotted-line structure with competing priorities; track record as the go-to person for data accuracy; comfort building from scratch with incomplete data

Nice to have

Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field or equivalent experience; experience in capital-intensive or operationally complex industries (energy, construction, manufacturing, supply chain, data center development); familiarity with cloud or infrastructure business models (ARR, utilization, capacity planning economics); hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot); experience applying forecasting or optimization to physical operations; experience in a hypergrowth company where processes were still being built; experience enabling LLM or MCP-based self-service analytics on governed data models
