Senior Electronic Engineer

IonQ Geneva, Schweiz
Arbeit vor Ort

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 31.08.2026

We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our R&D department in Geneva. The successful candidate will take technical ownership of high-performance electronic subsystems that accurately drive and read out ultra-sensitive, fast opto-electronic modules (e.g., lasers, SPADs, interferometers). This is a hands-on role spanning architecture, schematic/PCB design, bring-up, and verification, with a strong emphasis on analog, RF/high-speed, and mixed-signal design to enable robust, industrial-grade products.

Responsibilities

Developing complex electronic hardware from early prototypes to industrialised modules, including low-noise amplification, high-speed/RF signal conditioning, drivers for opto-electronic components, A/D conversion, and optimised power-supply blocks; Designing high-performance, low-noise mixed-signal PCBs, applying robust partitioning, grounding, shielding, and layout techniques to preserve signal integrity and minimise coupling; Defining and reviewing block specifications with system, optical, and firmware engineers; Leading technical trade-offs around noise, bandwidth, timing, and electromagnetic compatibility; Planning and executing bring-up and verification in the lab, using structured test methods and data-driven analysis to ensure compliance with requirements and reliability targets; Coordinating and technically guiding subcontractors and suppliers; Helping evolve the team’s design process, documentation, and review practices; Owning the design and verification of analog, mixed-signal, and RF/high-speed electronic subsystems, from architecture through schematic/PCB, bring-up, and industrialisation; Acting as the analog/RF reference in R&D, driving cross-team specifications, design reviews, and supplier execution

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic or Opto-electronic Engineering (or equivalent); At least seven years of relevant experience designing complex, high-performance hardware modules; Strong expertise in analog and mixed-signal design (low-noise, precision, and high-speed); RF fundamentals (impedance matching, transmission lines, filtering); Signal-integrity and power-integrity best practices; High-performance, low-noise mixed-signal PCB design experience; Schematics and PCB layout review in Altium Designer; Simulation and modelling tools (e.g., LTspice); Hands-on laboratory instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators); Clear communication with internal stakeholders; Ability to present technical results and recommendations; Fluency in English; Senior-level analog and RF/high-speed hardware expertise; Proven delivery of industrial-grade electronics from prototype to product; Structured, hands-on engineer able to lead technical decisions, verification, and cross-functional execution in a fast-paced R&D environment

Nice to have

French; Experience driving hardware for sensitive opto-electronic systems where noise, timing, jitter and bandwidth are critical; Ability to balance technical performance with manufacturability and testability; Experience mentoring others through design and review; Ability to help establish a rigorous design flow

Benefits

Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans; Matching 401(k); Unlimited PTO and paid holidays; Parental/adoption leave; Legal insurance; Home technology stipend
